yesterday, or two days ago, I got a message from Apple that updates were available. SO like a dutiful user, I did as asked. I downloaded the updates and installed them.
Thereafter, my problems began. I couldn’t open the bookmark folder. Just now, I tried to view my iPhoto folder, and the wheel kept turning and turning, and I couldn’t see any picture.
I called up Mobile 1 where I bought this and the man said to bring my unit to the store. He said he’d try to fix the problem. Worst case scenario, the unit would be brought to the microwarehouse or something in Pasig.
Meantime, what do I do? Oh my gosh. My files…
To avoid having to bring my MacBook to Mobile 1, I decided to trash my iPhoto and just use other options like finder to get to photos in my memory stick. And my son uploaded Firefox so I can have a new set of bookmarks.
Hopefully the two modifications will stop the hanging of this MacBook… Paging Steve Jobs. Just kidding. I’m but a speck in the Apple Consumer universe. How presumptuous of me to think he’ll bother to pay a heed….
Did you check with the PhilMug forum? I read plenty of experiences there like yours but after rebooting their units, they were able to go back to normal.
Did you also download an update to iPhoto? I remember before summer began and I had to update my iPod and I saw that rainbow ball too. I had to force my MacBook to go off (by pressing the on/off key for a few seconds) .
I don’t know what I downloaded na. I turned my laptop on and off several times, it was hanging each time. In fact when it was brought to microwarehouse in Pasig, the man there witnessed the hanging. Horrible. I’d have wanted to go to Philmug but was too stressed to do so. The man reformatted my laptop and now I’m using the 2004 Microsoft version, original, given by a friend who had one extra. I don’t know if it’s my imagination but it’s slower than 2008 and takes getting used to all over again.
Re similar experiences, a cousin’s son also had the same experience. Another friend naman can’t blog in wordpress. Sabad no?
Oh no! Grabe ang compatibility issues of Mac. But I’d still go Mac anytime.
No, it’s not your imagination. The 2004 version is slower than the 2008 version. Can’t blog in wordpress? that;s horrible.
Yes, it’s so horrible for her that she’s thinking of going back to PC. Apple is such a purist, I guess, euphemism for strict? I’ll enjoy it again once I get the hang of a new OS – is that what you call it? Which version is yours?
