FB Finds

Following are links to interesting articles I found in FB walls/timelines:

This one is funny and not to be taken seriously. It’s a 2011 article actually: http://itzhakts.wordpress.com/2011/11/29/revocation-of-independence/

Until I saw this in FB, I had never heard of bitcoins. And more than that, it recounts how illegal drugs trade is being carried out online worldwide. The bane of technology when you think of it: http://topinfopost.com/2013/10/03/fbi-arrests-29-year-old-mastermind-of-billion-dollar-internet-drug-blackmarket

Finally, this story is close to my heart. It is a grim reminder of how life can be so difficult and prove tragic if we push ourselves/our children too hard to achieve fame, power, and wealth which we/our children might eventually not be able to enjoy because while we may achieve such goals, doing so may be at the expense of our lives: http://www.theguardian.com/business/2013/oct/05/moritz-erhardt-internship-banking

A quip made by the intern’s parent startled me, and maybe it makes sense:

But with the benefit of hindsight, does Hans-Georg wish his son had made a different decision – that instead of flying to London to work himself into the ground in the hope of securing a job, Moritz had chosen instead to stay at home and enjoy the summer holiday with his family?

“No way,” Hans-Georg says, eyes unblinking behind black-framed oval spectacles. “No. Because he enjoyed it so much.”

****

If that was what made the intern happy – working really hard – who are we to say he shouldn’t have?

May he rest (work) in peace in a kinder world than we have, than we live in.
