Remember my hives incident after eating prawns bought in Shrimp Bucket? Two days later, we still had some of it on hand, I ate a piece, no reaction. Happiness. The day after, feeling even more daring and strong, I ate two pieces, no reaction. So I guess, like a doctor-cousin once told me when I had hives after eating crab to which I don’t usually have any reaction, my resistance was weak when I ate the shrimps. Happiness. In Saboten I also had shrimps, no reaction. And yesterday, I ordered food from Conti’s– baked prawns, still no reaction. Yippee.

Speaking of Conti’s, the baked prawns are really good. An order of three pieces topped with a cheese something is delicious. The flesh of the shrimp does not stick on the shell either. The order came with Japanese fried rice and crab salad. The downside, it’s not cheap, almost P400, I think. Yes, Conti’s is good, but why does it feel expensive? Husband had grilled pork chops. Came with gravy which I liked — oops, I did say that was husband’s order, right? So I filched obviously. The downside, I think it had some thyme or rosemary which I don’t like. Just a little, luckily.

Ordered lumpia ubod: 2 pieces for P80. I like the size, not overwhelming. And the sauce was good.

The cheese puffs of Conti’s are really good. Has a hint of sweetness so it can serve as dessert.

Ordered from Rufo’s last week after HHB brought over a flyer. My orders: sinigang na baboy, sinigang na bangus and pork barbecue. Yes, I tried Rufo’s a year or so ago, wasn’t impressed but wasn’t disgusted either. That time, the Rufo’s branch from which I ordered was the one in Libis. Not to say it no longer is there, but that this time around, I called the Katipunan, Loyola Heights branch. Near Flaming Wings I think. Verdict – it’s reasonably priced which is good. First time for me to try sinigang na baboy (so sue me), okay lang. The pork barbecue was too slathered with sauce the meat looked invisible. I exaggerate, but you get the drift.

Yesterday morning, as I had ordered via text the first time (okay first time in Katipunan), I got a text message at 5 am if I wanted to order. A few days earlier, I got a text also or was it a call? No, it was a text message. Wait, I’ll check. It was a call. Yesterday’s was a text message that woke me up. Said text also gave me the landline: 2948941. Cell phone number is 09165293388.

On the home front, saw the beer batter mix in Rustan’s, got a pack for P120 plus. Got tilapia fillet from Cold Storage and used this to make fish fillet. Served this for dinner with Heinz malt vinegar. Winner. For another sauce(dip) option, had HHA prepare mayo with crushed garlic and cheese.

Only one piece was left of what HHA cooked. And son ate it when he saw it during our next meal. Recipe used is in the seasoning pack. For beer I had HHA use San Miguel Pale Pilsen. I forgot that son earlier said Cerveza Negra is good for beer batter. And as if to rub it in, when we were watching Good News in GMA News Channel, the chef used Cerveza Negra for a dish he was cooking. It was a chicken thigh recipe that used CN and cookie butter, homemade. He also prepared pancakes that used the cookie butter instead of butter as slather. So there, another option for cookie butter, store bought, gifted or homemade. 🙂
