Sorry to write mostly about Koreanovelas but they’re what keep me entertained in the microcosm I live in. Of late, I’ve started a few new ones because I haven’t much to do.
What are they?
Fated to Love You -Korean version. This is a remake of a Taiwanese original whose male lead was younger and more subdued than the Korean version’s male lead who has the tendency to go overboard funny, egregious even at some points. I like the female leads of both versions though – they’re not stunningly beautiful but are very engaging. The Taiwan male lead was eye candy, the Korean version’s is older and hyper. One of the actors of the Korean version was in the Panda series. He looks like Romnick Sarmenta. The ballet dancer in the series is a real ballet dancer who took up acting only recently. Beat that.
Trot Lovers – a lot of OA acting here but the later episodes are more controlled than the first few ones were. The male lead’s acting is surprisingly campy, a vast departure from his portrayals in series’ past. The song the female lead sang during the audition keeps coming to mind – LSS?
I’ve started King of High School but it is also a bit hysterical. Pace is frenetic rather than languid. So many characters, I cannot figure out what’s happening sometimes.
Update: after a few more episodes, I’m beginning to appreciate this series though it’s taking a long time to reach that part where the identity of the new executive hire is revealed. His chosen secretary has such low self-esteem and is so tentative one wonders why she was hired in the first place.
Regardless, I much prefer watching K dramas to those churned out locally.
